About us

he origins of ceramic production in Dehua can be traced back to ancient times (the spark of ceramic making was ignited as early as the Neolithic period). Thanks to the area's abundant porcelain clay resources and the local people's passion for making ceramics, it began approximately during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) and continued to develop and flourish during the Song (960-1279), Yuan (1271-1368), Ming (1368-1644), and Qing (1644-1912) dynasties.

During this period, two individuals made outstanding contributions. One was the "Porcelain Sage" He Chaozong, who is considered the most representative porcelain sculpture artist of the Dehua kilns during the Ming Dynasty's Jiajing and Wanli periods (around the 16th century). He was renowned for his exquisite white porcelain sculptures. His unique artistic style founded the "He School" of art, and his works, though rare, are highly collectible.

Another notable figure was Lin Bing, known as the "Kiln God." Lin Bing's innovation was successfully transforming the originally small kilns into large kilns, significantly advancing Dehua's ceramic industry by improving the efficiency and quality of porcelain firing. This innovation earned Dehua porcelain the reputation of being "white as jade, bright as a mirror, thin as paper, and resonant as a chime."

Rooted in Dehua's traditions, the representative craft known as "Bensio" originates from this place. The term "Bensio" derives from the homophone in the Minnan dialect. Quanzhou in Fujian, as the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road, uses Minnan dialect as one of its main languages. The origin of this term not only reflects the ancient people's respect and love for ceramic craftsmanship but also carries profound cultural implications. By using the name of this craft, the brand aims to better preserve and pass on the culture and spirit of ceramics, adhering to the principles of harmony with nature, ingenuity, and sincerity in dealing with customers.

Harmony with Nature: The ceramic firing craft is deeply influenced by the Daoist philosophy of "unity of heaven and humanity," emphasizing harmony with nature in the creative process. Thus, the people of Dehua have maintained a beautiful porcelain city amidst green mountains and clear waters.

Ingenuity: From design to finished product, there is an extreme pursuit of detail, reflecting the dedication and passion of the Dehua people. Therefore, Dehua ceramic sculptures, especially its white porcelain sculptures, have long held a unique and prominent position in the world of ceramic art, enjoying a high comparative advantage, fame, and uniqueness.

Sincerity: Only with a sincere and pure heart can one create works that touch people's hearts. The unique color and texture of Dehua white porcelain, often referred to as "Chinese White," are also seen as a reflection of this sincerity.
